Call for papers: Special Issue

The 2nd International Conference on Disability, Arts, and Education

Guest Editors: Karen Keifer-Boyd and Jennifer Eisenhauer Richardson

We are seeking manuscripts for a special issue of the academic journal Synnyt/Origins that are derived from papers presented at the 2ndInternational Conference on Disability, Arts and Education to be held at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, Pennyslvania, USA,  3–5 October, 2019 (see https://www.dsae2019.com/)

Three manuscript formats are recommended. The first is a practice-based paper based on what was presented at the Conference with a length of approximately 3,000 words. The second is a research-based paper further developed from the conference paper, with a length of approximately 5,000 words. The third is a multi-media format, such as a visual essay. It is at the discretion of authors to determine how multi-media, including video and performances, can be translated effectively for a digital journal. For example, time-based media will need to be translated into a journal format.

Please submit manuscripts in English as Microsoft Word documents at https://tinyurl.com/Synnyt2020 by 20 December, 2019. The editors will notify authors of the status of their manuscripts by 15 March, 2020, and authors will have until 1 May, 2020, to submit revised manuscripts for consideration. The projected publication is Fall 2020 issue of the journal.

A special issue from the 1st International Conference on Disability, Arts and Education (Aalto University, 28–29 September, 2017) is available at https://tinyurl.com/Synnyt2018
