Synnyt/Origins: Finnish Studies in Art Education, is an academic journal that reports research in art and its education.

It includes explorations of theory and practice in the area of art and design production, art pedagogy, art criticism, art theory, curriculum and instruction.
Synnyt/Origins also welcomes submissions from related fields such as anthropology, art history, education, aesthetics, sociology, psychology and philosophy.
Synnyt/Origins accepts submissions in English and in Finnish. The format of a submission can be a full article (max 6000 words), a visual essay (max 3000 words), a commentary, or a media review.
Each submission goes through a peer review process, and the author will receive feedback from the senior editor, from one of the associate editors and from two peer reviewers. Most manuscripts go through at least one rewrite. Submissions should follow the APA 6th edition writing style.
