All users have their own personal calendars. A personal calendar shows only the events from course workspaces the user is a member of. When exporting calendar to another calendar system will export only events that are in their personal calendar. Best way to check events that will be exported is to open your personal calendar (top right → your name → calendar). If event is not in the personal calendar it will not be exported.

The calendar may contain events created by Sisu, due dates created by activities, and events created by the teacher him/herself. If Sisu has events that have registrations and timetable information, these timetable events are shown only to those students who have registered themselves in these events (for example lecture group 1). If the course has an event in Sisu that has no registration but has timetable information, the timetable information is shown to all course students.

Please note that adding attachments to calendar events is not recommended, since they cannot be imported to the following year's course calendar. If you follow the instructions on Material delivery, the following year you can import your current workspace material and other Sections into the empty workspace.

Typical problems

  1. Exported calendar does not include course lectures for teacher.
Events like L01(Sisu), H01(Sisu) comes from Sisu are set as group events in course environment. Typically teacher is not part of the group. Students register always in groups in Sisu. Confusing thing is that because teacher role is allowed to see all group related things in course space it looks like calendar events are part of teacher calendar. This is reason why teacher can see group events in course space but they do not show up in their personal calendar. If teacher want events to their personal calendar they can add needed groups to them selves in participant list.

Sisu-based events

The course calendar contains room and time information on lectures and exercises automatically driven from Sisu.

Sisu-based information (event title, date and time) will be overwritten nightly, but you may add information on the description field. This field is not overwritten.

If you need to delete a calendar event that was created automatically from Sisu, you need to delete it only from Sisu. The event will be removed from MyCourses the following night.

Activity-based events

The course workspace activities' deadlines (due date) will be added to the course calendar automatically.

Events created by the teacher

Teachers can create new calendar events.

The calendar can be synced with the Aalto University Exchange calendar (Outlook Web Access) or other calendar systems which support iCal-format, such as Google Calendar.
