This accessibility statement concerns the service wiki.aalto.fi and has been written/updated on 8 February 2023. The service is bound by the Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019), which requires the accessibility of public online services.

The accessibility has been reviewed by an external expert organisation.

  • files used by office software (e.g. doc, pdf, odt) published before 23 September 2018
  • online contents archived before 23 September 2019
  • video and audio recordings published before 23 September 2020

The service contains a large number of documents and visual materials that are difficult to transform into an accessible format.

    The service and its contents contain a large number of pictures and graphical symbols for which there is no alternative text or that have not been hidden from assistive technologies.

    The service user interfaces and contents do not comply with the WCAG recommendation for semantic heading hierarchy.

    When scaling the user interface, the elements and contents do not comply with the settings, and the user interfaces are difficult to use.

    The user interface elements and contents of the service have plenty of problems with contrast.

    When resizing text, the change does not affect all user interface elements or contents. This problem occurs particularly when using mobile browsers.

    The service has forms with text fields that have not been semantically linked to the field name that is visible on the screen. Such problems occur in, e.g. the People Directory as well as on the Advanced search and Profile pages.

    The focus indicator is poorly visible particularly to users with low vision.

    All the interactive elements of the service cannot be accessed with a keyboard. Some of the elements cannot be activated using a keyboard although they can receive keyboard focus.

    On some pages, such as on the profile editing page and certain pop-up windows, the tab order does not correspond to the visual sequence of the contents.

    The Move to Contents (Siirry sisältöön) skip link of the service does not become visible when it receives keyboard focus. Skip links and the links for transferring between blocks do not work.
