    Academia.edu — Academia.edu is an online platform where users can share research papers, track research around specific topics and monitor the impact of research.
  • Page:
    Adobe Connect — Adobe Connect (AC) is a browser-based video conferencing platform primarily for personal use. In addition to video conferences, AC is suitable for saving and sending webcasts. For instance, meeting recordings may be shared via AC after a meeting. Video conferences can also be saved for further use. AC is officially used and supported by Aalto University. The service is free to use for all Aalto students and personnel. Please find more information at the service providers info page (only in Finnish): https://wiki.eduuni.fi/display/funettiimi. Adobe Connect service is provided by Funet (Finnish University and Research Network) and It's called Funet Tiimi.

    Creative Commons — Creative Commons is a free service for creators of creative work. Via the service a licensor can choose between six different copyright licenses enabling the licensor to share and let other people use his work. The user can modify the copyright terms of his work from “all rights reserved” to “some rights reserved”. On its website, Creative Commons offers links to licensed content that can be used for free and legally under the terms of Creative Commons’ copyright licenses. Creative Commons is a non-profit organization.

    Doodle — Doodle is a paid service used for timetabling meetings. Some calendar reservations can still be made free of charge, after that service offers monthly paid version.

    Evernote — Evernote enables user to make and save notes, files and images and synchronize them to multiple devices. Notes can be written notes or voice recordings. The service has a search function that covers also handwritten notes and text in pictures. There is both a basic, free-of-charge version and a premium version available.

    Facebook — Facebook is a social networking website where users can post comments, share photographs and links to news or orther interesting content on the Web, play games, chat live, and even stream live video. Users must register and create a profile account before using the service. After registration users can communicate with friends, share pictures and join groups. Service can be used for informing purposes.

    Flickr — Flickr is an image hosting and video hosting website. 
    Photos and videos can be accessed from Flickr without the need to register an account but an account must be made in order to upload content to the website. Flickr offers three types of accounts: Free, Advertisement Free and Doublr.

    Funet FileSender — Funet FileSender is a browser-based application that allows authenticated users to share large files up to several gigabytes to other users. Free to use for all HAKA users / users of FUNET network. Non-HAKA users may share files with a help of an upload voucher from a HAKA user. The service is not suitable for sending confidential files without encryption.

    Google Analytics — Google Analytics is a service that generates detailed statistics about a website's traffic and traffic sources and measures conversions and sales. Google Analytics can provide the user with reports at regular intervals. Service is put into operation by signing up to a Google account and setting a tracking code to the website.

    The basic service is free of charge.

    Prezi — Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software that opens up a new world between whiteboards and slides. The zoomable canvas makes it fun to explore ideas and the connections between them. The result: visually captivating presentations that lead your audience down a path of discovery.

    ResearchGate — ResearchGate is an online social media platform for researchers. At ResearchGate one can create a personal profile and connect and collaborate with other researchers. Users are able to share their publications, create groups and discuss their work with other users. Users can also create blogs.

    SlideShare — SlideShare is a cloud service for slide sharing. Supported file formats are PowerPoint, PDF, Keynote and OpenOffice.
    Users can share files privately or publicly. SlideShare also provides users possibility to rate, comment, and share link to the slideshow.

    TinEye — TinEye is a reverse image search engine. The user can enter an image into the engine and the service finds where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions or higher resolution versions of the image exist.

    Vimeo — Vimeo is a video-sharing website. Users can upload, view and share video content.

    YouTube — Youtube is a video-sharing service provided by Google. The service enables the sharing of video material publicly or privately through a link. Watching videos does not require registration, but in order to upload or comment videos a Google account is needed.
