Step by step guide: Dialog in Raspberry Pi

Operating System Installation: 

  1. Download and unzip Soft-float Debian “Wheezy" Operating System for Raspberry pi from http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads
  2. For flashing the Wheezy Operating System in SD card of the Raspberry Pi download and unzip  Win32DiskImager.exe from http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
  3. Run Win32DiskImager.exe , select the .img file unzipped from step 1, select the SD card and click Write. 
  4. Eject SD card safely from writer and insert it into raspberry.
  5. Insert SD card in raspberry PI and connect the necessary IO devices (mouse, Keyboard and monitor) and Internet cable.  start it by supplying the power.
  6. When Raspberry Pi boot up select Expand Filesystem by  press Enter and select Finish. 
  7. Select Ok when asked for reboot.

VNCServer Installation

 Java Installation: 

  1.  Login into raspberry pi using default credential  (username=pi and password= raspberry)
  2. sudo apt-get update
  3. sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk

Tomcat Installation: 

  1. Download Apache tomcat via "wget http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/mirrors/apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-7/v7.0.41/bin/apache-tomcat-7.0.41.zip". Note: Take latest version.
  2. Unzip the downloaded package using "unzip apache-tomcat-7.0.41.zip". 
  3. go to <Apache-root>/bin and execute "chmod +x *.sh"

Dialog Installation: 

  1. execute the command "sudo apt-get install x11-xsever-utils"
  2. execute command "startx"
  3. Download qlm package from "http://#/"
  4. Go to <Apache-root>/webapps directory and  copy the qlm in that directory
  5. Go to <Apache-root>/bin directory and execute "./startup.sh"

One-Wire protocol Installation:

  1. Install libavahi using "sudo apt-get install libavahi-client-dev" 
  2. Follow the guide available at http://wiki.m.nu/index.php/OWFS_with_i2c_support_on_Raspberry_Pi_(English_version)
    Note: Use "sudo /opt/owfs/bin/owfs -u /dev/ttyUSB0 --allow_other /mnt/1wire/" instead of "sudo /opt/owfs/bin/owfs --i2c=ALL:ALL --allow_other /mnt/1wire/" when starting owfs.
