Aalto University mobile hearing loops

1) Undergraduate Center

2) U-wing, Otakaari 1

3) Table model hearing loops are available at every IT servicedesk room. These are also movable if needed.

  • Otaniemi campus, Otakaari 1, 02150 Espoo
  • Töölö campus, Runeberginkatu 14-16, 00100 Helsinki

  • The loop can be installed to areas up to 150 m2. The loop can be connected to the room/hall sound system provided there is an audio output available. The loop accepts Line or Mic level audio and the input is adjustable. The loop can be tested after installation with the test devices (two different devices, UniVox Listener and GN ReSound).
  • There is a portable wireless microphone set included which can be used with the loop if there is no sound system in the room.

What you should know when order the hearing loop?

  • It can take up to 30 mins to install and test the loop in large rooms. When making a room reservation, please note the installation and testing time.
  • There should be audio output available to be able to use the microphones of the room sound system. Otherwise you must use the wireless microphone that comes with the loop.
  • The loop is sensitive to pick up noise from surrounding electric devices so the loop audio is not always clear from noise.

Audio feed for personal hearing loops

  • When arranging webcasts/video conferences with services like Skype or Adobe Connect it's usually possible to get audio feed directly from the audio mixer. This audio feed can be shared among a few people, often up to 4 persons (depending on the type of the audio splitter device/headphone amp). The audio feeds are delivered with cables that are only a few meters long so the distance between the audio mixer and personal hearing device is very limited.
  • It's important to know the audio connector type of the personal hearing loop so suitable cable adapters can be provided. 3,5 mm mini plug seems to be common connector type in personal loops.
